What’s the process for Elder Mediation?
Step 1 – Individual Intake
In this confidential one-on-one session, each person has the opportunity to share their perspectives and concerns. This 1.5-hour intake helps us understand the unique needs of your family and ensures that everyone is supported from the beginning.
After your intake, we’ll invite other family members or relevant participants to attend their own individual intake sessions. You’re also welcome to share our information with others involved to help them decide if they’d like to take part.
Step 2 – Mediation Conference
Once everyone has completed their intake, we’ll schedule a mediation conference.

-
- Sessions typically run for half a day, with options to meet online, in person, or in a hybrid format.
- During the conference, we hold space for respectful and supported conversations about key issues such as care needs, living arrangements, decision-making, and financial matters.
- Our goal is to help your family find workable, compassionate solutions that reflect the interests and dignity of everyone involved.
-
After the session, we’ll provide a complimentary summary of agreements. If appropriate, this summary can be formalised into something like a care plan, communication agreement, or other practical arrangements that help your family move forward with clarity.
